On this run I did B25 and D25 AVCS heads along with the 205 heads. CNC Ported Subaru Cylinder Heads. Cylinder heads are hand developed on a flow bench, tested at 28.60 depression. All tests are mapped with software and compared. Valve lift start at. 400 lift, maintaining correct depression. While developing intake ports, depression was pulled to 35, and exhaust pulled to 50. Port mapping with pitot tubes for port velocity, FPS (velocity of air in feet per second). Port mapping is done by measuring the air speed at several locations. All of the record measurements are placed in software and mapped. Areas with high flow are massaged for extra flow, areas with low flow are untouched. Material removed from low flow areas make for a larger then needed port, with very little extra flow if any, is picked up. This can make for a lazy port. Port mapping equals less unwanted port volume. Swirl is monitored and watched for improvements. The energy used to create the swirl is not available to move air into the cylinder. Molds were made of the intake and exhaust ports before, during and final ports. The final ports were developed, by digitizing the hand ported intake and exhaust ports, along with the combustion chambers. Heads are ported on a 5-axes CNC machine, to ensure consistency and perfect port and combustion chamber shape.
